Message	actually experience and traing will prove that if i would have placed the tweeters up high then the phase would be thrown of between the mids and the tweets... general rule of thumb is no more than 12-18" from the mid, there are some exeptions..... my last car 02 celica gts had the tweeters flushed by the front of the door nearest the dash, and they sounded perfect but the distance was only 6-8 " from the mid... the true test was when alpines installer came out and took a listen. all he said was dynamat good, speakers secure good , placement good... WOOOOW
